Q: As a Host Salon, why do I have to provide three free tans to a visiting tanner who may only be in town for a short time.
A: It is standard practice for the largest tanning franchises in the world to give away three basic level tans to attract new customers. Three tans provide the incentive for a tanner to visit your store as opposed to another salon in your area. Your average basic level tan cost between 13 to 30 cents. It’s worth the cost (less than $1.00) to attract a new client who probably wouldn't have walked through your door had you not offered the incentive. There is also a reason why this tanner came to your town. They’re likely visiting family and friends. This means they will be returning at some point in the future, providing another opportunity for sales. They may even be looking to relocate to your area.
Q: If I give away three tans how do I make money?
A: Once the member is presented with three free tans you have an opportunity to offer Lotions, Lotion Packets, Upgrades or any other Product, Service or Merchandise that you offer at REGULAR PRICE! It’s also been found that many times the visiting tanner will purchase additional tans. You will also benefit by offering the same travel privileges to your clients. Even if your members never use the service, it is a Very Powerful sales tool. The Co-op has been referred to by it’s members as “Having the Benefit of a Franchise for less than 50 Bucks”!
Q: What if I have already given three tans to the same tanner on another occasion?
A: You are only required to furnish three tans once every 12 months to each tanner.
The important thing to remember is that this would be a returning client…. exactly what you want!
Q: After the client has been given the three tans, can I upgrade them to another bed for a charge?
A: Yes. Your only obligation as a member is to provide the three free tans in a basic bed. If the tanner wishes to use a different bed you may sell them an upgrade at regular price.
Q: As the Home Salon, Why would I send my clients somewhere else to tan?
A: Remember, the salon they will be visiting must be at least 50 miles away from your salon, so there’s No Chance of losing a customer to a host salon. If you want to make sure a salon is more than 50 miles away you can visit Mapquest.com.
Q: As the Home Salon, What do I do if I have a Tanner that is traveling to another city?
A: Easy, just visit the Internationaltanningcoop.com website and find a member salon in the city that they will be visiting. If you find a salon simply write down the information and give it to your tanner. let them know to tell the host salon that they are a co-op tanner when they arrive. If you find a salon that is not a member you should contact them and let them know that they can join in just minutes through the website.
Q: What do I do when a visiting tanner comes into my store?
A: Simple, just ask for the city they live in and the name of their home salon. With that information go to the Internationaltanningcoop.com website and verify that their salon is an active member by using the search feature. THAT’S IT! If their salon is not an active member you are not obligated to furnish any tans.
Q: Is my membership refundable?
A: Memberships are non refundable. The $49 fee goes directly to the webmaster to activate your salon. Memberships are active for 365 calendar days from the date of activation and DO NOT automatically renew. Memberships may be cancelled by submitting a request using the “Contact us” page on the website.
Q: Will I be sent a Certificate showing my membership?
A: Yes. A certificate will be sent showing your active status in the Co-op. This should be framed and posted in an area that your clients can see when deciding to purchase a membership. This certificate will prove to be a very useful sales tool. It will pay for itself on your very first sale.
Q: Is a list available of all the Active Salons in the Co-op?
A: A membership list is unavailable since new memberships are added and others expire on a daily basis. A list would be inaccurate from the first day its printed.
Q: How is the International Tanning Co-op Different than other referral sites?
A: The Co-op is not just a common referral program or internet listing. It’s a tool for Salon Professionals to use as a feature of their salon and to increase sales. Other referral sites are merely listings of salons on the web. These referral sites also collect your information when you add your salon and then SELL that information to marketing companies! That’s how they pay the development costs and the hosting fees for the sites. The ITC will never sell your information to anyone. All information collected is kept exclusively in our database.
